Have You Heard About the Great Lock-In?

From September 1 to December 31, people everywhere are committing to focus, simplify, and lock into goals that matter most. Some are building businesses. Some are investing in their health. And for many, this season is about finally finishing what they started.

The idea started as a viral trend on TikTok in August 2025. A few creators began posting videos about going all-in on their goals for the last quarter of the year, and the idea quickly spread. What began as a simple online challenge has now turned into a movement of people choosing discipline, focus, and determination from September through December.

If you are an aspiring author, this could be your moment. The Great Lock-In is the perfect time to start writing, finish your manuscript, or even prepare to publish your book.

Why Writing Fits This Season So Well

Writing requires space. It thrives on routines, focus, and commitment, exactly what the Lock-In is all about. Instead of filling your time with distractions, this could be the season where you create something lasting. Imagine entering the new year with your book written, or even ready to launch.

What You Can Do During the Great Lock-In

  1. Start Your Book
If you have been carrying around an idea, this is your chance to finally put it on paper. Commit to writing a few pages each day. By the end of these 90 days, you could have a complete first draft.

  2. Finish What You Started
Many writers have half-written manuscripts sitting on their computers. The Lock-In gives you permission to pick it back up. Set a goal to complete a certain number of chapters each week and watch your book take shape.

  3. Prepare for Publishing
Use this season to explore the publishing process — from ISBNs to distribution platforms. Even if your manuscript is not done, learning the steps now will make the road smoother later.

  4. Build Your Launch or Course
If your book is nearly ready, this is a great time to outline how you will share it. You might sketch a launch plan or brainstorm how your book could turn into a course or workshop. The Lock-In is not just about writing; it is about creating momentum for what comes next.

Imagine Where You Could Be by December 31

Instead of another year of saying, “One day I will write my book,” you could close out 2025 with a manuscript in hand or a publishing plan in motion. This is your window of focus. Do not miss it.

Your Next Step

I am considering opening a free accountability group where authors can check in, share progress, and cheer each other on during the Lock-In. If that sounds helpful, keep an eye out — I will be announcing details soon.

And if you are not sure where to start or which direction to take, you can also schedule a Clarity Call with me. Together we can talk through your ideas and set a path that makes sense for you.

In the meantime, here are three ways you can take action today:

  • Download my free Publishing Guide to understand the 9 key steps every new author should know.

  • Revisit your book idea and commit to giving it your attention during the Lock-In.

  • Explore the blog archive for encouragement and practical tips.
